Much, many, a lot of
Examples :
·         We don’t have much time.
·         Are there many students in the hall?
·         There are a lot of trees in this school.

1.      Much – with uncountable nouns in questions and negative sentences.
2.      Many – with plural uncountable nouns in questions and negative sentences.
3.      A lot of - with countable and uncountable nouns, usually in positive sentences but we sometimes use a lot of in questions and negative sentences.
4.      To ask about quantity, we use :
·         How much + uncountable noun
Example : How much milk did you buy?
·         How many + plural countable noun
Example : How many students are there in the bus?

A few, a little
·         There are a few glasses in the cupboard.
·         I’d like a little milk in my tea, please.
·         Do you have any potatoes? Yes, we have a few.
·         Do you have any homework to do? Yes, a little.

2.      a little + uncountable noun
