DEFINITION AND EXAMPLE
Definition:
It is a text which tells factual story, happened in the past time with unpredictable and funny ending.

Social Function:
To retell an event with a humorous twist.

Generic Structure of a recount text:
·         Orientation            : Sets the scene
·         Event (s)                : tell what happened
·         Twist                     : provides the ‘punchline’

Significant Lexicogrammatical features:
·         Focus on individual participants
·         Use of Material Processes
·         Circumstances of time and place
·         Use of past tense
