PROCEDURE TEXT

DEFINITION AND EXAMPLE
Definition:
It is a piece of text that gives us instructions for doing something. The purpose of a procedure text is to explain how something can be done.

Social Function:
To describe how something is accomplished through a sequence of actions or steps.

Generic Structure of a recount text:
·         Goal
·         Materials (not required or all procedural texts).
·         Steps 1-n (i.e., Goal followed by a series of steps oriented to achieving the Goal).

Significant Lexicogrammatical features:
·         Focus a generalized human agent.
·         Use of simple present tense, often imperative.
·         Use mainly of temporal conjunctions (or numbering so indicate sequence).
·         Use mainly of Material Processes.
